Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO

Creating large scale wifi network for corporation or enterprise was a hard work and was hard to manage with standard wireless AP products such as multi-mode home WAP products. Today you can easily create large scale wifi network using business class wireless AC AP products from various models of wireless access point ac products from various networking vendors including Ubiquiti, Linksys and TP-link.

In large homes, typically you can create high speed wifi network by adding cable mode such as Surfboard SB6183 or SB6190, TP-link TC-7620 or other models plus high speed wireless routers such as Linksys EA9500 and Netgear AC5400. Or you can esily build wifi network using a single device cable modem wifi router combo such as TP-link Archer CR700 or Surfboard SBG6900 and still more.

Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO is one of best wireless access point to allow you build large scale enterprise wifi network easily.

What this product does

Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO is a business class wireless ac access point to allow you build from a single AP device in a single site up to hundreds of AP devices in high density clients from multiple sites. And the good thing is that you can easily manage them from a single central point via Unifi controller software even across multiple sites.

It’s a simultaneous dual band AP with 3×3 MIMO technology delivering high speed wifi network up to 1300Mbps wireless AC in 5GHz band and up to 450Mbps wireless N in 2.4GHz band. You can install the product mounted either on the wall or ceiling, no worries of providing power outlet on ceiling since this product POE business class access point, WAP that supports 802.3af/802.3at PoE standards. Just run a single CAT5e or CAT6 UTP cable for both data and power from each of Ubiquiti AP to the POE switch. You can use  Ubiquiti 8-port managed POE Gigabit switch to connect the APs.

Band steering and airtime fairness

Ubiquiti supports band steering that forces clients to connect to 5GHz band if the clients supports 5GHz band. 5GHz band is relatively clean from any interference than 2.4GHz band which is crowded band used by various models of wifi devices including baby monitor system, garage controller, microwave oven and still more.

Airtime fairness helps you increase system performance by limiting users airtime access to minimize problem-clients effects on system performance.

Comparison

Few vendors offer wireless ac access point for businesses including Linksys and TP-link. Linksys offers three variants of business class WAP including LAPN600, LAPAC1200 and Linksys LAPAC1750 that will be compared with Ubiquiti. TP-link offers EAP ceiling mount series including the EAP320 that will be discussed here by comparing this product with Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO.

All of the three models are designed for business class WAP, they are all based on wireless ac access point simultaneous dual band both 2.4GHz and 5GHz band. Take a look at the following two spec comparison tables.

 Wifi technology

Both Ubiquiti and Linksys use the same wireless AC1750 technology delivering speeds of up to 1300Mbps wireless AC in 5GHz band and up to 450Mbps wireless N in 2.4Ghz band. While TP-link offers its debut in business class wireless AC access point by releasing the EAP320 based on AC1200 with Beamforming technology. There are still few wifi adapters support Beamforming technology, you can mention D-link DWA-192 AC1900 USB adapter.
