HP, Staples & Costco Black Friday 2016 tech deals revealed

With report after report about tablet sales falling, it might not come as a surprise that retailers such as HP, Staples and Costco are slashing prices on these slimmed down computers for Black Friday 2016, along with plenty of other tech products.

Black Friday watchers such as BFads and Best Black Friday have been tracking new ads closely.

HP’s Black Friday deals

HP’s Black Friday deals, which kick in online on Thanksgiving Day, also focus on laptops, desktops (for work and gaming) and monitors, with a few speakers and other accessories thrown in.

HP’s machines, powered by AMD, Intel and NVIDIA processors, generally run Windows 10. Among the deals:

*Envy 15t laptop

This 15-inch touch-optional Windows 10 laptop is powered by an Intel i7 processor, has 6GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Regularly priced at $830, HP is selling it for $600.

*Elite Slice X2 1012 G1 2-in-1

This 12-inch touch display tablet/laptop combo usually starts at more than $2,000, but the price has been slashed nearly in half for HP’s Black Friday sale. The system runs Windows 10 Pro 64 and boasts a 6th generation Intel Core m processor and Intel HD Graphics 515 processor. It has 4GB of memory and 180GB of storage.

*Omen Desktop 870-120st

This Windows 10 Home 64 gaming system, marked down from $1,800 to $1,300, cranks via an Intel Core i7-6700 CPU (four cores), an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card, 8MB shared cache, 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

Staples slashes Surface price & more for Black Friday

Staples also is cutting prices on Windows machines, including Microsoft Surface tablets and Dell and HP laptops and desktop machines. Staples, which is closed on Thanksgiving but starting its Black Friday online sales that day, has revealed a slew of tech product deals, including:

*Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i5 This high-end tablet is going for $800 at Staples on Black Friday, down from the usual price of $1,000. This Intel Core i5 processor-powered tablet has a 12.3-inch display and runs Windows 10. It includes 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Keep in mind that while this tablet comes with a Surface Pen, it doesn’t include a detachable keyboard – that’ll run you another $100 or so.

*Amazon Fire 8-inch tablet Staples is axing the price of this 8GB tablet running Fire OS from $130 to $80.

*Brother FAX2840 Plain Paper Fax Hey, someone must still be buying fax machines, and you can get this model for $50 less than the usual $200 price tag.

Costco slashes game prices and more

Costco is treating its members to Black Friday savings beginning at 9am on Nov. 25 and through Nov. 28 while supplies last. A sampling of deals:

*Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Bundle $250 is being slashed from this package’s total price, and includes the tablet as well a Surface Pen and Type Cover. This WIndows 10 Surface has a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

*Xbox One S 500GB Minecraft Bundle or Sony PlayStation 4 Bundle Costco is knocking $50 off each of these packages, for a final price of $250.  The Xbox bundle includes the Minecraft Favorites pack and a controller, in addition to the console. The PlayStation package comes with the Uncharted 4 game and two wireless controllers in addition to the console.

*Netgear AC3000 W-Fi Router This 802.11ac tri-band gigabit router is being reduced in price by $70 for members.
